On Wednesday 20th, and Thursday 21st of March, SMAUG partners gathered for the project’s general assembly meeting. Universidad Politécnica de Madrid was an excellent organizer hosting the meeting which also took place at the University campus of Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación. The agenda included Work Packages’ progress, including current and future activities, while robust discussions, strategic planning, and a reaffirmation of commitments towards the project’s mission were also raised during the two-day event.
The meeting served as a platform for members to review the project’s six-month implementation progress, address challenges, and chart the course for future endeavours. One of the key highlights of the meeting was the presentation of each Work Package progress, during which responsible leaders provided insights into the accomplishments achieved so far and outlined upcoming milestones. Discussions surrounding these presentations were constructive, with members offering valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement.
During the second day of the event, partners had the opportunity to visit Agencia Tributaria (Spanish Tax Agency) premises and receive a full tour and an in-depth analysis of the CECOP operational headquarters and the activities being performed to secure maritime activities and track illicit activities. This activity
allowed partners to have an ‘’in-hand’’ experience since multiple use cases were demonstrated, allowing partners to receive further knowledge especially for validating the project outputs.
With the visit, the two-day event was wrapped up, and the dates and location for the next meeting were also discussed.
In conclusion, holding such meetings allows project partners to come together, discuss progress, address challenges, and plan the project’s future. General assembly meetings are crucial for ensuring the smooth execution of the project while providing a conducive environment for collaboration and fruitful discussions among the consortium members.
