SMAUG at Kongsberg AGENDA
On June 20, 2025, the SMAUG project was represented by the University of Southeast Norway consortium partners in a dedicated session on maritime security and safety during the Kongsberg AGENDA. During the one-hour seminar, topics such as maritime transport and security, including the use of AI in handling large volumes of information, were thoroughly explored.
Together with the SEAGUARD EU project, SMAUG showcased how advanced technology is being used to address growing maritime challenges and solutions to enhance and improve the security of ports and their entrance routes.
This seminar highlighted how the challenges of the future can be tackled by using new technology and strengthening cooperation between research environments and industry. Artificial intelligence and advanced sensor technology allow for better monitoring, more precise decision-making tools and smarter logistics. The University of Southeast Norway and several local companies participate in national and European research projects that develop such solutions.
The seminar was led by Jon H. Ulvensøen of the Innovation Center of USN Campus Vestfold. The goal was to show how technology, research and collaboration can strengthen Norway’s position and robustness in the face of the maritime challenges of the future.
