The SMAUG team forms a cohesive force driven by a shared vision and a commitment to excellence aiming to improve and enhance the security of ports and their entrance routes.
A highly experienced consortium consisting of 22 partners including Universities, Research Centres, SMEs, Law Enforcement Agencies, Public authorities, Coastal / Border guards and Private organisations which span across 7 EU countries (Spain, Estonia, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Norway) countries shaping the SMAUG consortium!

Daniel Severinsen introduces Lemvos and his views on the SMAUG project!
Let us know more about yourself. How your expertise is linked with the project. What drives you to be involved in the project?
At Lemvos we specialize in USV (Unmanned surface Vehicles), and electric boat docking systems. Through SMAUG we make various new developments for our USVs and expand our market reach.
Lemvos’ role in SMAUG. In which activities you are involved? Which results do you expect to generate?
We are developing a vessel which will be a core part of the underwater detection part of the project. A sonar scanner will be used to scan ship hulls for attached objects, such as drug and explosive pods, then remotely from the USV an underwater robot will be deployed.
How do you think SMAUG is expected to impact the community?
SMAUG will make ports safer and reduce the traffic of illegal goods. The technologies we are developing within SMAUG will reduce costs to ports and law authorities in seeing what is below the water’s surface, without using divers.
And finally, what is the most exciting part of the SMAUG project?
Having the chance to develop and test our technology in collaboration with various other partners.
